Screen printing (also known as silk screening) is a printing technique that uses stencils and ink to create designs on fabric. Although it requires significantly more set-up time & initial cost than digital printing or heat transfer, screen printing remains popular because it is the most economical method for producing large quantities. The advantages of screen printing over other print processes is that the press can print on substrates of any shape, thickness and size. And if you are looking for specific color to match the pantone values, Screen printing allows matching exact color than other printing methods. The prices of custom screen printing on t-shirts is quantity based so the more you buy, the cheaper they will be. Disadvantage is Higher cost per additional color.
Setup costs for this method are relatively high. For larger quantity orders, screen printing is ultimately the better option for its speed and efficiency. For lower quantity orders, the cost (in this case) may not justify the means.
